Gifts for children?
Hey everyone,

This has probably been posted a billion times, but I was wondering if you have any ideas for gifts I could give the children that I am about to leave?

I've just resigned my 2 current jobs to take one full-time nannying job about 45 minutes away. One family in particular I have been a live-in with for the last 2 years and am very close to their girls who are 6 1/2 and 4 - I see them every day of the week and am very much like a big sister to them.

I was wondering if you guys had any ideas of good gifts to give them to remember me by? My thought was to get one of those books made up of photos of them and I for each of them so they can remember the good times we had.

Any other ideas?

I'm leaving my girls in January, after 1.5 years with them, and am also thinking a photo book. But I'm also considering getting one of those recordable story books from Hallmark and recording my voice on them, so they can always listen to me. Their mom has tons of pictures of me with the kiddos so I think my voice would be something the girls would appreciate. Then probably something individualized for each of them: my older girl loves carousel and she and I have been on tons together so probably something related to carousels. I have to figure out something for the younger one.

I'm really not into giving photos as gifts to kids I work with, which apparently makes me a minority.

If I want to give a kiddo something to remember me by, I buy a nice hardback book - something classic that I love - and write a little inscription inside the front cover. Oh The Places You'll Go is a great book for this if the kiddo doesn't have it already.
